This winter has been exceptional. We have a good base of snow and kids of any age will have fun. The snowboard and ski conditions are good. We have a base of 24-48 inches of machine groomed packed power. If you’re not the adventurous type, try Big Bear Snow Play (http://www.bigbearsnowplay.com/). They’re open 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM every day and are a great place for sliding on inner tubes.
You won’t be able to hike until some of this snow melts. Most of the National Forest is covered in snow drifts that can be up to your knees. We tried hiking in the east valley and it took two hours to hike what would normally take a half hour. If you need to get out, try the bike path around the lake. Here’s a map.
