Nestling high in the mountains of one of the most scenic spots on the continent, the invigorating mountain air scented with the aroma of the woods, the clear, cold water of Big Bear Lake, alive with fish that bite and fight, and a thousand facilities for divers sports generally—such is what awaits you at Stillwell’s Camp-On-The-Lake-Front.

A dreamer’s country indeed, and truly named a sportsman’s paradise, no desire but finds fulfillment at the secluded retreat where each year a congenial family of vacationers make life one continuous program of pleasant association and diversion.

How To Get There

Come via the Pacific Electric Ry., 6th and Main, or Motor Transit Company Co., 5th and Los Angeles. By Auto, trip can be made through Mill Creek via Redlands, Rim of the World, or desert via Victorville.

Write of phone camp for reservations. Reservations can be made with Peck-Judah Co., Pacific Electric or Motor Transit Companies.

Horseback Riding

To prove that no California excursion is complete without at least on stay at Stillwell’s Camp-On-The-Lake-Front, we will mention a few of it’s pleasures and advantages. With sport a first consideration, no item has been overlooked. Fishing and hunting in season, campfire parties, canoeing, hiking, motor boating, swimming, motor tours, and dancing are merely some of its diversions. Spacious pool room also maintained. New double concrete tennis court. For scenic splendor, it stands supreme, and some of the many interesting places one may visit on horseback, by auto, motor boat or hiking, are the beautiful Big bear Lake Tavern, Holcomb Valley, Old Rose Mine, Sunset Point, Baldwin Lake, Doble Mine, Bluff Lake, Big Bear Lake Dam, etc., without end.

As to accommodations, every facility required or desired is provided. You may enjoy your outing in any style, from hotel accommodations to “roughing it’ in the comfortable housekeeping cabins surrounding the camp. To insure convenience to those desired cabins, fresh wholesome food supplies may be secured at our spacious grocery store, especially provided for this purpose.

Lakeside Cabins

Regular and short order meals may be had at all hours. Fishing tackle to suit each individual need is maintained in constant readiness for use as you desire it. Motor and row-boats, well cared for by competent help, also add pleasure two-fold, increased by the assurance of seaworthiness conductive to utmost safety. The Camp itself covers more than 12 acres of sweet-smelling pines, dotted with house-keeping cabins, each overlooking the lake, and has more than one-half mile of water front, affording excellent boat landing facilities. As to the cabins themselves, they represent the last word in camp comfort, being furnished complete with electric light, wood for fuel, water, laundry; also a new bath house with bath tubs and showers, including hot water.

To make each pleasurable day more perfect, Stillwell’s Camp evening are enhanced by music, reading and pool-room facilities, campfire parties, marshmallow roasts etc. But above all, we wish to mention the crack Jazz Orchestra maintained in conjunction with the dance hall. Here, in the spacious cabin-style hall, with its rustic fire-place and back woods atmosphere, one can indeed enjoy the popular melodies, and each dance to the fullest on the well kept floor amid the company of congenial fellow campers bent on merriment. The spirit of good fellowship prevails, many are the worth-while acquaintances here made, and in themselves a memory are these evening “get togethers.”

To sport lovers Stillwell’s Camp-On-The-Lake-Front offers the atmosphere of virgin wilds supreme, yet every modern convenience in the camp itself, and excellent transportation facilities, being less than one day’s ride from Los Angeles.

    My name is Darin Stillwell and im a direct decendent . My grandfathers name was charle aka Chuck Stillwell I am almost sure of it cause my dad always told me about big bear lake and the stillwell camp if somebody could give me some feed back on it that would be great
