Hwy 38 leading into Big Bear City and Big Bear Lake CA has been closed since 8:30 AM due to 2 traffic accidents. It’s after 11:00 and the road shows no sign of opening soon. If you’re coming to the mountain you will have to use HWY 18. Enter using Waterman Canyon from the West or enter via Lucerne Valley in the north. HWY 330 is expected to be down for at least a year.
Winter driving can be challenging. The warm temperatures have melted the snow, covering the roads and freezing at night. Please drive cautiously and watch for black ice. Always carry chains.
