Friday January 9, 2009 -Weather

At 7:49 PM last night (Thursday), Big Bear was rattled by a magnitude 4.5 quake. The quake was located 2 miles south southwest of the city of San Bernardino. It was a quick shake and no damage was reported.

 

A high wind warning has been issued for the mountains of Southern California. The National Weather Service issued the following statement:

“HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED IN NEVADA WILL CAUSE LOCAL STRONG GUSTY SANTA ANA WINDS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY. GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS MORNING IN THE NORTHERN AREAS AND THEN SPREAD INTO THE RIVERSIDE AND SAN DIEGO COUNTY MOUNTAINS DURING THE DAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY.”

Big Bear will enjoy sunshine and clear blue skies for the rest of the weekend. Daytime temperatures will be in the mid-fifties, with low temperatures around 30 degrees.
