Fishing for $50K Trout Derby

The Big Bear Lake Resort Association presents “Fishing for $50K” on May 30-31, 2009. Enter to catch a tagged fish worth $50,00 plus many more prizes and raffles. Entry fee is $35 for adults and $20 for kids 15 and under. If you book a one or two night stay at a Resort Association Lodge the entry fee will be waived. Team Big Bear Mountain Bike Series: Shootout #1

Los Vaqueros de las Montanas’ Summer Kickoff Barbeque, Gymkhana, and Cow Working takes place on Saturday May 30th at Los Vaqueros Arena. Hours are 9 am until 9 pm. Canoe Tours at the Discovery Center

Learn how to canoe on a leisurely 2-hour guided tour of beautiful Big Bear Lake. After a quick paddling lesson, you will cruise along the shore looking for beaver, great blue herons, and ducklings. Along the way you will learn the natural history of the Big Bear Valley along with the various flora and fauna found in the area. Children must be at least 6 years old and all children need to be accompanied by an adult. Includes water and a snack. Tours caravan to lake. Tours are limited to 14 people, reservations recommended. The Big Bear Municipal Water District has opened the West Ramp on the north shore for public boat launch. The summer hours of operation are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week. Maximum boat length for the lake is 26 feet and all vessels must have a boat permit. A season pass is $90 for a motozied boat and $45 for kayaks, canoes etc.

Big Bear Lake permits sailing, fishing, waterskiing, float tubes, sailboarding, kayaking, personal watercraft, and canoeing. Swimming is allowed within 50 feet of the shore.
