Big Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce

Offers Prescription Discount Cards

Big Bear Lake, CA - Health insurance has been a huge topic in the news during the past year. It is a discussion that few can agree on. But for people who need daily prescription medications in order to manage chronic illness, affordable medications can mean the difference between life and death. A recent Center for Studying Health System Change survey says that one in seven Americans reported that they didn’t fill at least one prescription in the previous year because they couldn’t afford to do so. Fortunately, there are prescription drug discount programs that help uninsured and underinsured consumers afford needed medications.

The Big Bear Chamber of Commerce has invested in a program to help members and their employees who need medications that they haven’t been able to afford. We have obtained discount cards for our members and their employees. These discount cards can save the holder of the card anywhere from 40% to 60% off their prescriptions.

The new drug discount program was created by Federal legislation to help with the rising cost of prescriptions. The cards the Chamber has received may be used at 50,000 different pharmacies across the United States including Big Bear Pharmacy, CVS, Kroger, K-Mart, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and Winn Dixie Pharmacies.

These discount cards are for anyone, but especially useful for people with high-deductible health plans, people with no insurance coverage, people with medical coverage but no prescription drug benefits, and people who have prescription coverage, but the benefits do not cover the drugs or drugs that they need.

The Chamber has a limited supply of these for members and their employees. We will be giving them out to all members who request them on a first come first serve basis. Please come in the Chamber of Commerce office and pick up as many as you need. We have the cards in English and Spanish. We look forward to seeing you and hope this eases some of the cost for you and your employees when it comes to health care.
