The ride on a comfortable stage from Redlands to Big Bear Valley will be made in about ten hours. The first half of the trip is all upgrade to the summit, over 5,000 feet, where a rest and lunch will be enjoyed, and with a fresh four-in-hand, the passengers will be treated to by far the grandest mountain ride of twenty two miles to be found in California, through grand forests and pines, firs and cedars and oaks, past gorgeous rock work, crossing streams of clear water, and thru emerald green meadows, with views from the crest now over a sea of desert, and again of fertile valleys.
How to reach Big Bear
The stage will start from Redlands every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 5:00 AM, and arrive at Bear Valley 6:00 PM, including a rest at noon. Returning, leave Bear Valley Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:00 AM and connect with the Santa Fe train at Highlands at 2:15 PM, thus enabling passengers to reach home the same day.
Fare $4.00 from Redlands to Bear Valley, $3.00 for a return trip to Highlands or for the round trip $6.00. Special rate for the round trip by stage and a weeks board at Bear Valley Resort $13.00. All round trip tickets good for the season. Regular price for board $10.00 per week or $2.00 per day. Special prices made for large parties and children. Each full fare entitled to 50 pounds of baggage free, extra baggage two cents per pound, if carried on freight wagon will be one cent per pound.
Parties traveling in their own conveyance can by feed or have their horses taken care of at reasonable prices.
