TripAdvisor Ranks Big Bear Lake #4

Trip Advisor, the largest online travel site, released their list of the top 10 ski rental home destinations. These are the hottest destinations that offer great vacation rentals homes.

Rentals home provide a smart accommodation choice for families and groups. People staying longer than a few days also find vacation homes to be convenient. Trip Advisor calculates out the difference in savings; “groups of four or more can potentially save thousands of dollars by staying in a vacation rental as opposed to a hotel in these top ski destinations.”

TripAdvisor ranked Big Bear Lake CA number 4! We beat out Park City Utah, Taos New Mexico, Killington Vermont, Vail and Winter Park Colorado, and Jackson Hole Wyoming.

Big Bear Lake is a resort community at the top of the San Bernardino National Forest. “Visitors have access to a wealth of winter fun options including skiing, snowboarding, horseback riding, downhill inner tubing and snowshoeing, ensuring that there won’t be a dull moment whether they’re out on the slopes or enjoying time together at their cabin.”

You can take you family to breakfast with Santa at the International House of Pancakes. Santa will be there Saturday morning from 7:45 AM to 8:30 AM. If you want breakfast in a quieter atmosphere, try the Barnstorm Café in Big Bear City. They have a great breakfast menu and you can enjoy watching the planes land at the airport.

The Big Bear Lake Arts Council will present a “Holiday Follies” at the Performing Arts Center Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening at 7:30 PM (MAP). The “Holiday Follies” is an eclectic mix of talented artists, including piano duets, cellist Sharon Rizzo and the Orpheus String Ensemble. Head out to Baldwin Lake. Turn up Vale Road and Take a right onto 2N02. This road is almost always open. Start with views of Lucerne Valley and the Pacific Crest Trail. Be cautious if there is snow, AAA doesn’t do off road rescues.

Mountain Snow Conditions

 

Snow Summit (MAP) has a base of six to 12 inches of man-made machine groomed packed powder. The high temperature is expected to reach 55 degrees with partly sunny skies.

Snow Summit has two lifts and two runs open. Miracle mile, with it’s spectacular lake views, is great for those who are average and above. The Bear Bottom area caters to beginners.

Saturday’s weather will see high temperatures near  40 degrees. A winter storm is expected to hit the mountains beginning tonight. The snow level will begin at 7400, perfect for the Resorts. New snow accumulation is expected to be between three and five inches of fresh powder. (Mountain driving conditions require carrying chains in your car at all times during the winter months.)

The snow is expected to continue on Sunday as the temperatures continue declining. The high temperatures will hover in the mid-thirties. There is a possibility of a couple of inches of fresh snow. Snow showers are expected to continue through Monday.

Bear Mountain Resort (MAP) is still scheduled to open November 30th. If the weather this weekend leaves a lot of snow all bets are off. They may decide to open for the Thanksgiving Holidays.
